I’m so excited about the upcoming Columbia River Buoy 10 salmon fishing season  which starts on August 1. Buoy 10 is located at the mouth of the Columbia River. This year, the return of Chinook salmon is predicted to be huge, and there will also be a great run of coho salmon. It should be a wild time with lots of hookups! I can’t wait to get out there and start my guided fishing trip. Ill keep this page current with 2024 Buoy 10 fishing updates

Buoy 10 fishing locations

The Columbia River is a huge river, and it’s teeming with salmon. There are lots of great places to fish for salmon along the river. In this article, I’m going to share some of my favorite fishing spots for salmon fishing around Buoy 10 in Astoria, Oregon. This list is by no means exhaustive, but it should give you a good starting point for finding great places to fish for salmon in the Columbia River.

Early in the season, when the salmon are migrating back up the Columbia River, I like to fish at Buoy 10.

Buoy 10 is located on the south side of the Columbia River, about 10 miles upstream from the mouth of the river. I like to fish at Buoy 10 because it is an ideal location to intercept the salmon as they migrate upriver. I start my trolling at the buoy and troll upriver with the tide for about two miles. Then I head back to Buoy 10 and do it again.

The sawdust pile is one of my favorite fishing spots. It’s located a few miles upriver from the Hammond boat launch on the Oregon side of the Columbia River. I like to fish out by the green buoy, and I troll with the tide. The sawdust pile is a popular spot for salmon fishing, and I’ve caught many fish there.

How to rig up for Buoy 10 fishing

When I go fishing for salmon at Buoy 10, I like to use Brad’s Super Bait and Yakima Bait spin fish on two of my rods. I rig up four rods with 20 to 24 ounces of weight, then pull a flasher and a herring on 2 of the rods. I have found that this combination works best for me. Learn more tips by reading my blog here.
