Here comes the Buoy 10 fishing season!

Anglers will be able to keep for both chinook and coho salmon later this summer at the popular Buoy 10 fishery, which offers some of the best salmon fishing on the West Coast.

Now’s the time to book your 2023 Buoy 10 salmon fishing trip with Marvin’s Guide Service.

We will be allowed to keep up to two hatchery salmon, and one each of those can be a fin-marked chinook or coho between August 1st and September 4th, with a few exceptions.

The fishery will close down Aug. 21-23 and again Aug. 28-29 to help extend the fishing and, fingers crossed, avoid the sudden shut-downs we saw last year. The short closures will occur on those Mondays, Tuesdays, and one Wednesday, so premium days later in the week and on weekends will still be available in August and through the Labor Day weekend.

Even when the chinook season ends at Buoy 10, starting on September 5th we’ll be able to keep three hatchery coho, and those silvers often bite and fight like crazy after Labor Day.

We also will have crabbing opportunities available during the coho-only season.

This looks like a strong year coming up, with a great coho forecast plus predictions of a strong run of fall chinook. So I’m excited to get customers into plenty of salmon.

In fact, we’ll be catching silvers even before August, with the anticipated opening of ocean salmon season. I expect that fishery to build during July.

As we saw last year, in-season changes can occur for various reasons, but I’ll always keep on top of any changes and find the best salmon fishing options available.
