Well the salmon fishing is over on the Columbia river, But you can find some Steelhead fishing on the Jon Day river. The weather will be cold but the fish are there.
I like to troll plugs red is my hot color.
Sturgeon fishing on the Willamette River is starting to pick up. As the weather gets colder on the Columbia River, the fishing on the Willamette River should pick up.
Don’t be afraid to move around a bit to find the Sturgeon.
The best bate has been squid at least for me.

Ode to Marvin Henkel
There are strange things done in the mid-day sun
By the men who fish for fun
They drive to the park while the day is still dark
To meet Marvin — that son-of-a-gun.
He’s a guide on the river, a happy “High Liver”
He helps you get ready to go
His boat is all ready — he’s holding ‘er steady
Get set for a wonderful show.
You roar down the bay at the first break of day
Your heart is beating real fast
He quickly arrives where the big sturgeon thrives
Get ready to make your first cast.
It doesn’t take long ‘fore you hear the reel’s song
as a Big One grabs ‘holt to your bait.
The arch of the pole will thrill your damned soul
The bones in your shoulders soon grate.
Don’t give up the fight ’cause your buddies just might
want to take over and land your prized fish.
They’ll whine and pout – they’ll heckle and shout
But landing this fish is your wish.
Seems like hours will past but success comes at last
Marvin nets your “Catch of the Day”
Your arms will recover to wrap ’round your lover
Maybe next time she’ll come to play.
So fish with Marv. Henkel and if need be to tinkle
Use the bucket — first open your fly–
Take a swig of booze ’cause there’s nothing to lose.
You’ll remember this day ’til you die.
Very nice poem. thanks
