I get asked all the time what kind of boat I use for Marvin’s Guide Service When offering guided fishing trips on the Columbia and Willamette River.
I use a 27-foot Alumaweld Intruder, one of the bigger guide boats in the Northwest. My boat is powered by a Mercury 225 horsepower outboard. I also use a Mercury 9.9 hp trolling motor. My boat’s design and size allow us to fish comfortably and safely on the region’s biggest rivers and the Pacific Ocean.
My guide boat also has a removable top. That way we will be fishing in comfort in all weather conditions Oregon has to offer.
Seats in my Intruder are on sliders, so we can move the seat from under the top into the sun if you would like.
When fishing on the ocean or in the river, I have my guide boat equipped with top electronics from Lowrance: GPS, radar, and fish finders are located in the front and back of boat.
My guide boat also has auto pilot for the trolling motor. I use the Garmin Reactor 40.
When fishing in my guide boat for Salmon, Sturgeon, or Walleye you will also have access to the top safety equipment like inflatable life jackets, life ring, Epirb, first aid kit.
This Alumaweld was custom built for me with the help of Steven’s Marine in Milwaukie, Oregon.
You will find me fishing in Oregon and Washington on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers and out on the Pacific Ocean.
In my 24 years of being a fishing guide in Oregon, this is my 4th guide boat I’ve had built. And by far, one of my favorite boats.
