I’m so excited about the upcoming Columbia River Buoy 10 salmon fishing season  which starts on August 1. Buoy 10 is located at the mouth of the Columbia River. This year, the return of Chinook salmon is predicted to be huge, and there will also be a great run of coho salmon. It should be a wild time with lots of hookups! Columbia River is expected to have at least 760,000 Fall Chinook Salmon return this year! With numbers like that, plus the big numbers of Coho Salmon, it’s going to be a wild year of fishing for Salmon. You don’t want miss out on this great fishery.

Salmon Fishing Columbia River opens Back up

Columbia River opens back up for Spring Salmon fishing tomorrow April 8th, it will be open lintel April 15th.

With the Columbia River running fast, I would suggest anchoring instead of trolling.

When anchoring for Chinook salmon it is all about having a good location. Salmon swims upriver in lanes. So, if you are anchored and see other boats catching salmon, and you’re not, sound out the area, and get a good idea of the depth they are in, then try to duplicate it in a nearby area.
