How to catch salmon on the Columbia River.
Fall salmon generally starts in the Portland area around August; however, I usually don’t Start my salmon fishing in the Portland, OR area until mid-September or early October.
I personally start my fall salmon on August 1 in Astoria Oregon area the world-famous Buoy 10. I continue to follow the salmon up the Columbia River and usually by mid-September, there is plenty of fall chinook salmon right in my backyard on the Columbia River in Portland, OR.
Over the years, fishing for fall salmon techniques have changed. As I grew up as a kid, one of the most popular ways to fish salmon was to anchor with a wobbler.
Now I personally think the best and most efficient way to catch salmon on the Columbia River is trolling. I like to use Pro troll flasher with a brad’s supper bait.
