Meet your Oregon fishing guide.

Hi, my name Is Marvin Henkel and I’m the owner of Marvin’s Guide Service.

Welcome to my site I’m a full-time fishing guide here in Northwest Oregon.

I have been a fishing fool all my life. I have been fishing all over Oregon. I started fishing for salmon, steelhead, On the John Day River with my dad, as far back as I can remember.

For the last 10 or 20 years, I have spent much of my time Fishing for sturgeon, salmon and steelhead. About 26 years ago, I decided to start guiding full time.  As a kid, I wanted to be a professional fisherman. But I think back then, my dream was fishing on TV.

Now days, the excitement that used to come from catching the fish has changed to satisfaction coming from being able to bring new people into the sport and to be able to Consistently figure out the fish and help my customers catch them.

Fishing for me is still exciting for me, from the thrill of the bite to the challenge of the hunt for the fish.

I fish over 250 days a year I still love it every day. But on my days off, I love spending time on my boat with my family.

    Nice trip Marv.I do,nt know if anyone will read this but Marvin and us (3) have been fishing for years together we all have boats and fish alot out of them everyplace in Oregon why do we go with a guide? Big reason is we are always trying to learn new spots rigging boating rules which change everyday. And we do,nt have to fight the ramp or people. We saw his boat and ask about fishing with him that years ago. We found him to be honest and careing about his trips ya sometimes we do,nt get fish but he shows us alot and answers our questions. Most guilds are not going to tell anythng but Marve has help us over the years become better fishermen, it is not a trip its a class on fishing. We enjoy going out and leaving your boat at home and enjoy the trip.
