Well it’s time to start getting excited. I know it’s early, but, yes, there have been a couple spring Chinook salmon reported already.
It’s looking like it’s going to be a great year for salmon fishing on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers.
I will be fishing on the mouth of the Willamette River to downtown Portland, and on the Columbia River from the I-205 Bridge down to St. Helens.
Oregon and Washington Fish and Wildlife offices are both predicting a great run of spring salmon. You should book your days early so you have the best opportunity to put some fresh salmon in your freezer.

Salmon Season on the Columbia river for the spring of 2014 is March 1 opens close April 7.
Columbia River will have 2 Tuesdays it will be closed for salmon fishing to allow the commercial fishermen in.
March 25th closed April 1 closed.
Willamette River will be open 7 days a week.
